Dan grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He met his wife Jill at a high school play in 1965, and together they have four sons and 12 grandchildren. Dan has served many within his church, community, and country, including time on the Alpine School District Board of Education and the Pleasant Grove City Council. He attended the University of Utah and BYU earning degrees in business management and finance. He was also a member of the United States Air Force Reserve. He has had the privilege to serve as a bishop, stake president, and mission president for the LDS Church. He was also the CEO of Niels Fugal Sons Company.
