Silver Antelope Award

David A. Wilson of Orem, Utah received the Silver Antelope Award Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the National Annual Meeting in Grapevine, Texas.

With 40 years of service, David, an Eagle Scout, has served as a pack committee chair, Scoutmaster, crew Advisor, district Boy Scout commissioner, roundtable commissioner, district Venturing chair, council executive board member, assistant council commissioner, Area 2 Venturing Committee chair, regional Venturing task force chair, national Venturing Committee member, and Philmont Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chaplin.

His Scouting recognition include the James E. West Fellowship, Silver Beaver Award, Scouter’s Training Award, District Award of Merit, Scoutmaster’s Key, Venturing Leadership Award, Distinguished Commissioner Service Award, International Scouter Award, and Saint George Award. He is an Order of the Arrow member.

When asked what one Scouting experience he was most proud of, it was having his whole family involved in Scouting – his daughters in Venturing, and his son an Eagle Scout.

David and his wife, Charlene, have a son, Glenn; and daughters, Ann June, Jennifer, Heather, Krystal, and Amber; plus grandchildren, Sam Hannah, Michelle, Ben Dan, Bekah, Michael, Adam, Gabriel, Katryn, Martin, and Chloe. He is executive director of the Utah Energy Conservation Coalition.

He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions. He has been a member of the Elks Lodge, Orem City Community Development Block Grant Committee, and Orem City Board of Adjustments.

The Silver Antelope Award is conferred by the National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America upon nomination by the region for distinguished service to youth. The award is made for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth by registered Scouters within the territory under the jurisdiction of the Western Region.
