To all the parents and families who support their sons and Scouts, thank you. There are a lot of good things that compete for your time, and yet you take the time to encourage your youth to participate in Scouting. There are many of us who are in Scouting today because of the encouragement of caring parents. Thank you for doing your best to make Scouting a success in your Pack, Troop, Team or Crew. Thank you, mom and dad!
To all the Scout moms and dads who spend endless hours driving to pow wows, sewing on patches, and helping complete merit badges – with enthusiasm and encouraging words. We thank you for your enduring service and care.
To the volunteers who spend time with other people’s children, so the world will be better for all of us. Thank you for constantly living as an example to the youth. Thank you for spending hours in training, and even more time in a sleeping bag –be it sun, rain, or snow. We thank you for teaching, leading and guiding the leaders of tomorrow.
To all the camp staff and volunteers who spend their summers in the mountains, thank you. Thank you for making it possible for the youth to experience the outdoors, connect with nature, gain confidence, make friends, and develop testimonies. Thank you for running quality programs, and managing the safety of campers.
To our sponsors who believe in our shared vision of creating young men who become forces for good, thank you. Your confidence and support for the Utah National Parks Council and the Boy Scouts of America has been meaningful and appreciated. Thank you for trusting us with your continuing financial contributions, talents, and time.
To the community, we thank you for your high expectations of the youth. We thank you for giving them opportunities to serve and develop leadership. Thank you for giving to Friends of Scouting; whether your gift is large or small, you make a difference.
To the Scouts who work towards becoming worthy and able men, thank you. Thank you for living the Scout Oath and Law, even when the world may tell you to do otherwise. Thank you for being honorable young men who dedicate their time to service and “do a good turn daily.” Thank you for your spirit, smiles, and bravery. You make all we do worth it.
With reverence in our hearts,
We, Your many children of many beliefs,
United in common purpose,
Gather to offer this our humble prayer,
As Scouters we are thankful for:
The many gifts and talents given to our fellow Scouters,
and to ourselves;
The freedom we have to join together and as a team
accomplish more than any of us could alone;
The opportunity to be of service to young people,
parents, other Scouters and our community;
Our joy at seeing so many young people become excited
as they grow and are able to meet challenges;
Being reminded by their ceremonies and legends
that he who serves his fellows, is of his fellows greatest;
And most importantly we are thankful for the gift
of knowing that our prayers are heard.
We each in own way take this moment to silently
add our own thanksgivings . . . (pause)
With thanks in our hearts we offer our prayers
and ask that You, the Great Scoutmaster of All Scouts,
be with each of us until we meet again.
