The ultimate flashlight.
That’s what Terry Peterson, the founder of Hybrid Light has dreamed about and tinkered with for years.
Between 14 years on the Micky Thompson Super Light racing circuit and traveling with his wife to watch their son play baseball, Terry has had a lot of time to think about and test his flashlight designs.
During his contracting work in China for Dewalt, he had a couple of days to kill and went to an electronics fair and found a factory making all kinds of flashlights.
To him the ultimate flashlight would:
- Always work when you needed it
- Never need batteries
- Be virtually indestructible
- Be Bright enough to see far away
- Be Waterproof and would float
- Be Reasonably priced
- Would last almost forever
- And did I say it would always work?
He designed his first prototype and had it manufactured.
His first call was Lowes. They loved it.
His racing buddies loved it. One took the flashlight home and his kids loved it.
His friend in Maine at L.L. Bean placed an order and it was one of his favorite products. He ordered 50 himself for his friends as gifts.
Terry kept changing the design, improved it, gave it to friends to test it, and listened.
Test, test, test.
By now he thinks he may actually have the ultimate flashlight…
He has a flashlight that always works, charges from the sun or indoor lights, never needs to buy new batteries, is made of polycarbonate and PVC and is almost indestructible.
It is very bright, it floats solar cell up, naturally rolls and stops solar side up, and is waterproof.
It never needs to buy flashlight batteries again it is very affordable, stays on for 58 hours, holds a charge while sitting for 7 years, and has a lifetime warranty.
This flashlight is rugged. Costco sold it and reported back that had one of the lowest returns of any product they have sold… ever!
And it always works when you need it.
Terry loves and respects the Boy Scouts and is very big on hunting and preparedness. He believes that the biggest asset to Scouting is the outdoor camping experience and felt that his flashlights and Scouting naturally go together.
Terry formed the Hybrid Light Company and built a partner program with the Boy Scouts of America to offer his ultimate flashlights to help improve summer camps through donations and discounts for these amazing flashlights as well as for boys and families to be able to count on them.
Hybrid Light has already sold well over 3 million solar flashlights and is becoming one of the premier solar powered flashlight and lantern companies in the world.
It is based in St. George, Utah, in the heart of the Utah National Parks Council.
Solar powered equipment is one of the most sought after products by avid campers.
