Friends of Scouting (FOS) Chair

FOS askThe responsibility of the Friends of Scouting (FOS) chair is to help raise operational income for the local council to provide camps, training and activities. Some wards see FOS strictly as a Priesthood assignment, so check with the Pack Key 3 before asking someone to serve. The following functions are the responsibility of the FOS chair in cooperation with the ward clerk:

  • Learn about how donations are used (see: Where Does my Money Go?) in the Utah National Parks Council.
  • Build an organization to enroll family members and Cub Scout leaders in FOS.
  • Enroll yourself as a Friend of Scouting.
  • For every five families in the pack, recruit one person as an enroller.
  • Attend an FOS kickoff meeting in the stake or district.
  • Enroll each of your enrollers as a Friend of Scouting.
  • Train enrollers.
  • Conduct report meetings.
  • Follow up until every household in the Pack had been visited.
  • Give recognition to contributors and enrollers (see: Thank You Gifts to Our Donors).
  • Along with the pack committee, provide public relations (social media) for FOS
