Get to know four of the council’s Outstanding Eagle Scouts, Rick Lunt, Tom Macdonald, Mike McKell, and Mark Wolfert. Click here for a full list of recipients and links to their bios.
Rick Lunt has taught choral music for twenty years in both Arizona and Utah. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and his Master of Music degree from Brigham Young University. Rick’s choirs, both concert and show choirs, are consistently ranked among the top performing groups in the nation. His high school show choir, Evolution, is ranked 3rd in the Nation and competes nationally against 5A schools. Evolution is known in the nation as the “Utah” group for its kindness, talented, and service-oriented students. Rick has been a clinician and judge for several festivals and competitions nationwide. He enjoys being on faculty for the BYU Young Ambassadors Singer Entertainer Workshop each summer. Rick and his wife, Melissa, are the privileged directors of an ESL Arts Advantage exchange with 55 Chinese students each summer.
Rick enjoyed being involved in last year’s inaugural “Celebration of Eagles” as the Artistic Director. He enjoys working on large scale productions. He has been recognized by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for producing outstanding choral and enriching experiences for youth. He has received the NAU Alumni Award. Rick has served in many capacities in the LDS Church, including as a missionary to the Colorado Denver Mission. One of his most prized awards is receiving his Eagle as a 14 year old boy in Thatcher, AZ. Rick, his wife Melissa, and 3 children currently reside in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Orem City Council
Tom received his Eagle Scout Award in 1971 in Orem, Utah. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management. Tom is currently a member of the Orem City Council and is a partner in Canyon Park Management Company which owns and operates the former Word Perfect campus. Tom has served youth in the LDS church in various callings, including positions in stake presidencies and bishoprics. From 2008-11, Tom served as the Mission President of the Oregon Eugene Mission with his wife, Kaye. They have four married children and 13 grandchildren.
Attorney, Utah House of Representatives
Mike graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. from Southern Utah University and a J.D. from the University of Idaho. He is the founder of McKell Christiansen Wise, PLLC. As a lawyer, Mike has been awarded the prestigious Martindale-Hubble AV rating, which is bestowed on less than 5% of lawyers nationally and has been recognized as a Rising Star in the Super Lawyers Magazine. Mike has been admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court and the states of Utah and Arizona. In addition to the practice of law, he is a member of the Utah House of Representatives, where he has served since 2013. Mike was a member of the House Special Investigative Committee that investigated former Utah Attorney General John Swallow. Currently, Mike serves as the House Chair of the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environmental Quality Appropriation Subcommittee.
Mike and his wife, Brandi, have four children. He enjoys spending time with his family and participating in outdoor recreation, especially fishing. within the last month, Mike’s oldest son Landon completed his board of review for his Eagle Scout Award!
Founder/General Counsel, dōTERRA International
Mark is the General Counsel for and a founder of dōTERRA International, a health and wellness company. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his Juris Doctor from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School. He and his wife, Carol, returned last year from presiding over the Georgia Atlanta North Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the parents of five children and six grandchildren. All four of their sons are Eagle Scouts and returned missionaries.
