Did you know that we, the Utah National Parks Council, produced and maintain two blogs for our amazing Scouting family? That’s right, two blogs that offer support, ideas, resources, and feel-good stories for our readers. The blogs are:
The Boy Scout
The first blog is The Boy Scout (the one you’re on now). The original purpose of The Boy Scout was mainly for our local and Latter-day Saint audiences. We published articles catered to Council/Utah-specific events, Church announcements, etc.
The second blog, Voice of Scouting, expanded out across the nation. This more generic Scouting blog pertained to all religions, National Scouting organization announcements, etc.
Why are we moving to the Voice?
The Boy Scouts of America has undergone and is currently going through historic changes within the organization, such as expanding our programs to include more youth. At the same time, we had a significant local change with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ending its charter relationship with BSA at the end of 2019. Though many youth in the church have opted to continue Scouting, this has changed the needs of our audience.
Because of these changes, the Council has strategically decided that combining our two blogs will:
- Centralize and simplify resources for our readers
- Rebrand the Council in this new era
- Efficiently create and disperse content through Council resources
The new blog will be: Check it out!
We are currently working on consolidating the blogs. However, it officially won’t take effect until Spring of 2020.
Once the blogs have become one, you may be wondering how you can still access all the awesome resources they have to offer. Don’t worry, we plan on have all the articles still available for our readers in the new blog. We will ensure that our readers are informed. Follow us on Facebook or subscribe to our current newsletters to get the latest news and updates.
