Girls Venture Around the World at Day Camp

The Iron Horse District recently hosted a day camp just for girls! “Adventure Around the World” Day Camp consisted of activities that taught skills, tested physique, sharpened aim, and more. It was amazing to see these young ladies get outside and learn just like the boys.

Girls got to grasp the importance of safety when it comes to BB guns, archery, and sling shots such as wearing eye protection, staying out of fire range, understanding the parts of the equipment, and learning how to properly follow instructions. Skills that are necessary and crucial when it comes to handling firearms.

Each group traveled to various “countries.” Two of these countries were a small ropes course and an obstacle course. The girls not only supported their friends by cheering them on when maneuvering the courses, but got to practice teamwork as well, while guiding each other through the obstacles, giving a hand when needed, or talking friends through every step.

Everyone should get the chance to explore the outdoors and try new things. Because of the Scouting program, these girls got to test themselves and enhance friendships. You don’t need to venture around the world to learn life skills, build confidence, serve one another, and instill integrity, you just need to go to day camp.
