A sneak peak at the music behind A Celebration of Eagles, July 3rd

Cub Choir

A Celebration of Eagles this July 3rd will feature two pieces of original music for the event composed by R. Ross Boothe. Below is the poem behind one of the songs which will be performed by an Eagle Scout and Cub Scout choir (Voices needed! Click here become a member of the choir).

Becoming Men Such as These

R. Ross Boothe

Some have fought for freedom

With stars and stripes unfurled

Some have taught of tolerance

With words that changed the world

Some have broken boundaries

Some established peace

Some have given hope

And brought the balm of sweet relief

Every day, every hour

We’re climbing the mountains

Crossing the distance

Sailing the seas

Every day, we’re finding the power

And we are becoming men such as these

Every day we’re stronger

Every step we grow

Every day we trace the steps

Of examples that we know

And even all around us

Are heroes great and small

Fathers and grandfathers,

Teachers, leaders giving all

Every day, every hour

We’re climbing the mountains

Crossing the distance

Sailing the seas

Every day, we’re finding the power

And we are becoming men such as these

And we won’t break the chain

We will live up to our name

And we won’t let the world stand in our way

Every day, every hour

We’re climbing the mountains

Crossing the distance

Sailing the seas

Every day, we’re finding the power

And we are becoming men such as these

Becoming Men Such as These relates to the path a Scout takes to become an honorable man through the examples of the good men around him, such as fathers,  mentors, leaders, and honorable men throughout history. A Celebration of Eagles should be an inspiring event for all and especially for Scouts currently on the path towards becoming men such as these. Please join us in celebrating the path to becoming an Eagle Scout.
