To take youth climbing, rappelling or canyoneering, this certification is required by BSA before you leave on your adventure.

This 6 day workshop runs from:Thursdays (6-10 pm)/ Fridays (6-10 pm)/ Saturdays (8-5pm) **(You must attend ALL 6 days of training for a total of 32 hours)**
This is a 32 hour class held over 6 days. A few of the topics we will cover: BSA climbing policy, legal issues regarding taking youth on events, knots, how to pick a climbing/rappelling site, equipment, how to teach youth about climbing, rescue procedures, raising & lowering systems, etc.
(This is the same information that you would learn at BSA National Camp School, except we don’t teach COPE, you don’t have to camp for 7 days, eat camp food and pay almost $400.)
IMPORTANT: Participants with little or no climbing/rappelling experience, may be able to obtain a Level 1 certificate if they pass all of the required tests and skills. Participants with climbing/rappelling experience and prior training may be able to obtain a Level 2 certificate if they pass all of the required tests and skills. Participants who do not pass the tests and skills portion of the workshop may be given an “instructor in training” certificate.
