#LightTheWorld Day 2

Now, this should be easy for all Scouts.  This past year has been peppered with people needing clean drinking water.  Some people are still in dire need.  Contact your local Red Cross of America. They know where it is needed.  Imagine the thirst you could quench if each Scout donates as much water as they are able.   It could go to Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico, Flynt, Michigan, California or even other countries.  Also, talk to your local food bank as your own neighbors might need clean water as many areas are requiring residents to boil their tap water.

Author: Joyce Olesen | is a grandmother, mother, and daughter of Scouters. She loves kids, camping, country music and sports cars. Her Dad was a Scout leader in Chicago in the early 1920’s and having only daughters did not bolster his Scouting hopes. As his “Scout” she was tying regulation knots by the time she was 7.

Joyce, I got up this morning and read your post. While searching the internet for a way to give the gift of clean water I found this at LDS Philanthropies (
“Donations to the Humanitarian Aid Fund support Clean Water and other humanitarian initiatives approved by Church leaders. More Information.
“One billion people suffer thirst and disease because they lack clean water. Humanitarian Services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who operates LDS Charities, builds water and sanitation systems and teaches communities hygiene and system maintenance, empowering them to meet their long-term water needs.
“Last year, Humanitarian Services provided clean water to 380,000 people in 19 countries. They included a rainwater catchment system for 10,000 people in Vanuatu, a stream capture system for 28,000 people in Indonesia, and wells for 5,600 people in Zimbabwe.”
There is a little map at the bottom showing where the Church is helping with clean water.
This all moved me so that along with Tithing and Fast I added a donation for Humanitarian Aid Fund
Thanks for helping me make it with Day 2
